Ten Rules for Being Human

I found this while "Stumbling". I thought I'd share it. Enjoy.

Ten Rules for Being Human
by Cherie Carter-Scott

1.You will receive a body. You may like it or hate it, but it's yours to keep for the entire period.
2.You will learn lessons. You are enrolled in a full-time informal school called, "life."
3.There are no mistakes, only lessons. Growth is a process of trial, error, and experimentation. The "failed" experiments are as much a part of the process as the experiments that ultimately "work."
4.Lessons are repeated until they are learned. A lesson will be presented to you in various forms until you have learned it. When you have learned it, you can go on to the next lesson.
5.Learning lessons does not end. There's no part of life that doesn't contain its lessons. If you're alive, that means there are still lessons to be learned.
6."There" is no better a place than "here." When your "there" has become a "here", you will simply obtain another "there" that will again look better than "here."
7.Other people are merely mirrors of you. You cannot love or hate something about another person unless it reflects to you something you love or hate about yourself.
8.What you make of your life is up to you. You have all the tools and resources you need. What you do with them is up to you. The choice is yours.
9.Your answers lie within you. The answers to life's questions lie within you. All you need to do is look, listen, and trust.
10.You will forget all this.

Back to work.

Today was the first day I worked with my street team in almost 7months. I have to hand over management of the street team in Jan since I had to focus on my final class project to graduate.

I don't regret doing that 1. Because Carla did a fantastic job of keeping the street team at concerts. 2. The company I did my final project for (ArtistaMundo.com) has hired me. That means I have my first real job out of college. I thought I would be looking for a job for several months before I found something.

I was surprised to find that handing out flyers is not as much a pain in the butt as it had become at one point. I though something was wrong with me, because when I used to pass out flyers at a concert, most people would avoid me like the plague. It made me feel like something about me was making people not want whatever I was giving away.

Today was different. Carla and Tati put up posters and I handed out flyers as concert goers entered the Cruzan Amphitheater for the Motley Crue show.
Most people coming into the concert were friendly, smiled and actually thanked me when I gave them a flyer. At first I was taken back, but then I was like ok maybe I'm doing something different and people are reacting different. Maybe I'm smiling more, because I'm not stressed out over everything like I was back then.
I used to have to deal with a whole lot of bullshit just to do my job. Now I'm actually enjoying myself.

We caught the last half of Buckcherry, all of Papa Roach (which I always love live), and all of Motley Crue. They were really good live. I'm just a little disappointed at myself. I should have been more excited about the show.
Carla and I were totally on the same page tonight. She felt exactly like I did. She felt like that because the PR people for Motley Crue were being impossible and didn't let the press take their pictures up at the stage like usual. They were way behind the first section and had to deal with fans getting in their shots. Carla couldn't get many good shots being so far away.

But I'm going to file this lesson in my PR do's and don'ts for future reference. I think it's a very bad move on the part of the bands PR person, because if the press can't get good shots of your band, they won't bother writing about you and you won't have any pictures in the newspapers, magazines or online. So who wins here? no one. All you've accomplished is making a bunch of photographers mad at your band. So thats not a good thing.

It rained for a bit (ice cold rain drops) I tried not to get too wet, but I got just wet enough to have a mini asthma attack and loose my voice somewhat. Good thing Carla was shooting the show, we got to sit in the VIP lounge to wait out the rain.
So, it was a pretty good first day back on the job. It feels good to be back in the scene making things happen and making more people aware of the great upcoming shows.
