Ralph Lauren Fashion Show

My mom and I were asked to model in the Ralph Lauren Fashion show at Macy's Dadeland. I had such a blast. I got a real taste of what it takes to be a a real runway model. I have a new appreciation for models and their patience.

The fitting was long and depressing. Nothing looked good on me, I tried a million different outfits and none were just right. It took about 2 hours to finally get my 4 outfits together. Once they were chosen, I was relieved.

Mara (the Ralph Lauren coordinator) did an amazing job of making me look great. The outfits she chose made me look stylish and were comfortable. What was awesome about this show was the fact that the 11 models were real everyday women in all shapes and sizes. None of us had ever modeled before and we just had a blast.

My sister Karen tried to take pictures, but they came out blurry. She took video instead (see video below). I apologize for the quality (it was taken on my digital cam. Oh yeah, Baby was invited to participate in the fashion show too! She modeled 2 amazing dresses and was a hit with the audience.

Feel your boobies

Some of you know that my mom survived breast cancer. TWICE!

The first time was when I was 18 months old and the second time was 3 years after that. My mom was only 33 years old when she was told she had breast cancer.

Now almost 25 years have passed and she's been cancer free ever since.

I am so lucky to have my mom after all she's been through, she truly is my hero.

Today my mom was interviewed about surviving breast cancer by Telemundo ch 51. The interview will air tonight during the 6:00pm news.
Please watch it tonight.

Thanks for your continued support and please girls, "Check your boobies" This is no joke.

My mom's doctor (the woman in the interview with my mom) Dr.Kallos is offering free mammograms to women who don't have health insurance. You have no excuse not to go.

I got the Video! Yay! Check it!

Converse = Love

If you have ever met me or spoken to me for more than an hour, you may have heard about my love for the converse shoe. I loved wearing them as a kid.
When they came back into mass consumption a few years ago, I never imagined my love would turn into obsession. I own maybe 20 or more pairs of converse shoes. I have classic low tops in pink, black, hippie "peace and love", diva rocker, etc. I love my hi-tops in pink, mint green, white, red, and even a gold leather pair that my good friend Julietta passed on to me. I even own extra high tops in electric blue with glitter and black with a fun pattern when you fold them down.
But my favorite so far have been my super knee high converse boots. They have seen so much in the few months I've had them (concerts, birthdays, photo shoots, music gigs, etc. They are my equivalent to the trusty little black dress or the sexy pump. They give me the necessary confidence to take on anything.
Today I received my newest pair of converse( 2nd new pair in a week). This brought me to the famous conversation I have with anyone who ever brings up the topic of marriage. Unlike most girls who fantasize about what their wedding dress will look like, I dream about the shoes I will wear on my walk down the aisle. I want to wear converse under my wedding dress. Why spend a super long day in high heels that hurt so much your thinking about your aching feet when you should be enjoying the most beautiful day of your life.
I also want whoever I marry to wear converse too. I have never taken the thought of wearing converse footwear further than the bride and the groom. This evening I found pictures of a couple that had their entire wedding party + the guests wear converse.
Here are the pictures and blog. This is too cute.

Last Comic Standing

Last night was the season finale of Last Comic Standing. My favorite is still Marcus although Jeff Dye and the Eliza were also my favs. Eliza won making her the first female last comic standing. She really is funny, and I am so happy that she won. I have to say that everyone of the performers left last night were funny.
I still really like Marcus for the impersonations. He's so going to get his own TV show or something bigger. He's like the next Dane Cook, but better.
You have to see his videos on YouTube.com

Yesterday I took my mom to Jungle Island. She had never been, but had heard mixed reviews about the place. We set out for our Jungle adventure at 10:00am. I took my 3 year old niece Katherine as well.

I have been to Jungle Island once before with some friends, and I had a great time. I pumped up the trip to my mom for about a week, so by the time Friday rolled around she was excited.

The first thing I wanted to show her was the Liger. My mom could not believe the enormity of the animal when I showed pictures from my first trip. It must have been too hot (about 94 degrees) because we just couldn't catch the Liger standing up and walking around. I don't blame him, it was too hot for my family and me as well. Good thing Jungle Island is covered in most areas, or we really wouldn't have been able to stand the heat.

I next took them to see the Crocosaurus. I was amazed by the creature on my first visit, so I just had to show my mom and neice. My niece was a bit scared, but my mom was amazed and just had to get pictures of the animal. My favorite is the story about the albino alligator and how it was sick until they brought in other alligators to keep it company. It's pretty amazing.

I really enjoyed the fact that there are so many great picture opportunities, and that J.I. allows guests to get so close to alot of animals. I personally enjoyed feeding the kangaroos and having our picture taken of the experience. I adore kangaroos so it made my day to be able to feed and pet them.

My moms favorite part of the day was when she finally realized a life long dream of petting a skunk. (yup you read right). She has always wanted to own a skunk and she had never come so close to one. She got to hold it and take pictures. I have never seen such a giant smile on her face when taking a picture with an animal. The skunk was soft and very sweet. Her name is Flower.

Katherine and I bottle fed the goats and got to feed pellets to the Llama. She kept calling it "Kuczo" like from theDisney film The Emperors New Groove. It was cute and she loved feeding the goats by baby bottle. We went back 4 times to get new bottles.

I think Katherine's favorite part of the day was meeting Lilo, the South African penguin. We even got to take a picture with Lilo and another of the penguins.

We had so many pictures taken that we bought a CD of all of them.
The experience I had yesterday is one that not many others may experience in their lifetime.
I will never forget feeding the kangaroos, petting a skunk, and sitting so close to an orangutang without any cages or glass to separate us.

I recommend taking your kids and even your parents to Jungle Island. You will experience things there that you may never again see in your life.

Ten Rules for Being Human

I found this while "Stumbling". I thought I'd share it. Enjoy.

Ten Rules for Being Human
by Cherie Carter-Scott

1.You will receive a body. You may like it or hate it, but it's yours to keep for the entire period.
2.You will learn lessons. You are enrolled in a full-time informal school called, "life."
3.There are no mistakes, only lessons. Growth is a process of trial, error, and experimentation. The "failed" experiments are as much a part of the process as the experiments that ultimately "work."
4.Lessons are repeated until they are learned. A lesson will be presented to you in various forms until you have learned it. When you have learned it, you can go on to the next lesson.
5.Learning lessons does not end. There's no part of life that doesn't contain its lessons. If you're alive, that means there are still lessons to be learned.
6."There" is no better a place than "here." When your "there" has become a "here", you will simply obtain another "there" that will again look better than "here."
7.Other people are merely mirrors of you. You cannot love or hate something about another person unless it reflects to you something you love or hate about yourself.
8.What you make of your life is up to you. You have all the tools and resources you need. What you do with them is up to you. The choice is yours.
9.Your answers lie within you. The answers to life's questions lie within you. All you need to do is look, listen, and trust.
10.You will forget all this.

Back to work.

Today was the first day I worked with my street team in almost 7months. I have to hand over management of the street team in Jan since I had to focus on my final class project to graduate.

I don't regret doing that 1. Because Carla did a fantastic job of keeping the street team at concerts. 2. The company I did my final project for (ArtistaMundo.com) has hired me. That means I have my first real job out of college. I thought I would be looking for a job for several months before I found something.

I was surprised to find that handing out flyers is not as much a pain in the butt as it had become at one point. I though something was wrong with me, because when I used to pass out flyers at a concert, most people would avoid me like the plague. It made me feel like something about me was making people not want whatever I was giving away.

Today was different. Carla and Tati put up posters and I handed out flyers as concert goers entered the Cruzan Amphitheater for the Motley Crue show.
Most people coming into the concert were friendly, smiled and actually thanked me when I gave them a flyer. At first I was taken back, but then I was like ok maybe I'm doing something different and people are reacting different. Maybe I'm smiling more, because I'm not stressed out over everything like I was back then.
I used to have to deal with a whole lot of bullshit just to do my job. Now I'm actually enjoying myself.

We caught the last half of Buckcherry, all of Papa Roach (which I always love live), and all of Motley Crue. They were really good live. I'm just a little disappointed at myself. I should have been more excited about the show.
Carla and I were totally on the same page tonight. She felt exactly like I did. She felt like that because the PR people for Motley Crue were being impossible and didn't let the press take their pictures up at the stage like usual. They were way behind the first section and had to deal with fans getting in their shots. Carla couldn't get many good shots being so far away.

But I'm going to file this lesson in my PR do's and don'ts for future reference. I think it's a very bad move on the part of the bands PR person, because if the press can't get good shots of your band, they won't bother writing about you and you won't have any pictures in the newspapers, magazines or online. So who wins here? no one. All you've accomplished is making a bunch of photographers mad at your band. So thats not a good thing.

It rained for a bit (ice cold rain drops) I tried not to get too wet, but I got just wet enough to have a mini asthma attack and loose my voice somewhat. Good thing Carla was shooting the show, we got to sit in the VIP lounge to wait out the rain.
So, it was a pretty good first day back on the job. It feels good to be back in the scene making things happen and making more people aware of the great upcoming shows.

First real job

I finally graduated after what seemed like an eternity. So naturally I have to take the next step, getting a JOB. Job searching is not easy at all. I can't decipher the language on the job search sites. Monster, Career Builder, etc.... It's all hieroglyphics to me.
Then there are job posts that sound too good to be true, and usually are. I have a habit of "Google"ing anything I don't know, and if I can't find any information on a company, I won't apply.
Ideally, I'd find a job doing something in music, but it seems like there isn't much available. The Miami music scene isn't very big, so there's not many jobs to apply to.
The real world (not the TV show) sucks. I think I'll start my master's in the fall as planned and continue to look for something good during that time.
I was so ready to graduate a few months ago, now I just want to be back in school, not dealing with looking for a job.

Quazimodo

2 weeks ago I woke up with my left cheek swollen and red. It hurt to brush my teeth, sleep on my left side, even yawn. My mom, thinking it was just a bad pimple, set me on her bed and hovered over me with a long thin needle and a q-tip. After several minutes of excruciating pain and tears running down my swollen, disfigured face, I promised her if she stopped I would go to see a doctor the next morning.
I sat in the waiting room for no more than 10 minutes ( the shortest doctors wait of my life) and sat on the noisy, tissue paper they put on the examining beds. When the doctor and her student walked in, I felt embarrassed. Mainly because she asked why I waited so long to come in, and because I had to tell her my mom was playing doctor and tried to "squeeze the crap out" of my face.
I was told I had an Abscess (an infection of a wound) and had to be put on medication and painkillers. I was given an anti-biotic shot and was told to rush to the Emergency Room in the morning if I didn't see any improvement. That was on a Friday. So Saturday morning, I rushed to the mirror as soon as I woke up, and saw a drastic improvement of my face. Thinking OK, it's not worse, I will not go to the ER. Its not until my follow up appointment with the DR that she sends me to another Dr to see if I need to get the abscess drained. (ouch).
By then, my face is no longer as swollen, nasty stuff is oozing out of a gaping hole on my cheek. Not the prettiest sight in the world.
Anyway, I'm still waiting on the results of what could have been the cause of the infection, spider bite, pimple gone wrong, or something else.
The hardest part of this all is that I missed out on seeing one of my good friends before she left to Argentina for a month. And had to cancel a get together to play ROCK BAND at my place.
It's been terrible being cooped up in my house and not being able to have much contact with the outside world.
Oh, and Juliette got a real bad case of ringworm and was covered with lumps on her body. What we first thought were allergies turned out to be ringworm, so shes been on medication too. I guess it's true what they say, like owner, like pet.

Finally a college grad!

After 7 years of semi-hard work at Florida International University (FIU) I can finally say "I am a college graduate!"
It's been a tough but enlightening experience to say the least. Whether I was battling with learning disabilities or medical issues, I made it to the finish line. Unless you have been by my side through these past 7 years, you may not know how difficult this journey has been for my family, friends, and me.
I first found out I had ADD when I was about 20 years old and on the brink of academic dismissal. In college it's kind of like a 3 strikes your out of college rule. I first got on academic probation for my poor grades, then once I was there they move on to a warning and if your grades do not improve from there, you have to see a tough lady in Academic Advising who reviews each case individually and decides whether you are dismissed from the university or if you are given one more chance. I was lucky enough to think fast and plead her my case, that's when the battery of tests from my physician and several psychologists began.
That's when I was officially diagnosed with ADD and Dyscalculia ( the disability of math or numbers).
With the help of the amazing people in the disabilities office at FIU, I made it through the prerequisite courses and was off to take classes in my chosen major. Public Relations. Once I started taking classes in my major, I knew this is what I wanted to do. I would eventually like to use my degree in the field of entertainment, preferably in the Music industry.
But before I can begin the difficult task of applying for a job, I must deal with starting grad school in the fall. I will be continuing my major and build upon the knowledge I have received at the hands of highly educated and experienced professionals.
I could not ask for better professors. I have gained an amazing amount of insight into several situations a PR professional can encounter just from listening to Lynne Farber's stories. I have also learned to strive for the highest goals through Rosanna Fiske. I may have cried and stressed myself way too much in my Integrated Marketing Communications Campaigns course, but without the extra push or words of encouragement, my team wouldn't have turned out such an amazing advertising and PR campaign.
I really do owe my success on those professionals who always believed in me.
Of course my family is also responsible for shaping me into what I am today, without my mom and dads constant backing and my sisters belief that I am not a failure, I was able to walk across that stage almost 7 years to the date when I ever stepped foot on the FIU campus.
IT would take a whole lot of paragraphs to thank everyone for all the help and encouragement, but I'll save some of those words for my songs.
I hope to get back into the swing of things and start writing some songs. I know have an amazing music studio in my house where I can sing and record at anytime of the day or night. It hasn't seen much of me lately, but I do try and play the amazing guitar my parents bought me for christmas.
Hopefully the next few blogs will be about my progress writing songs.

Curiosity usually leads to obsession.

What began as curiosity may have resulted in obsession.

I was once told that people who use search engines only look at the first ten result listings. This peaked my curiosity, I then wanted to run to a computer and see if any of my websites showed up ( and where they rank) when I Google search Nancy Mendoza . The first time I ever "googled" myself, I was astonished by the results. There was 2,090,000 results.
The reason for searching in the first place seemed to momentarily vanish as I began to learn more about the other Nancy Mendoza's.

1. Nancy Mendoza studies Molecular Cellular Biochemistry at the University of Oxford, and has worked as a technician and scientific assistant in various labs. She is twenty-one, and cuts her own hair. Sometimes she dyes it. Most recently it was rainbow-coloured. (more info)

2. Nancy Mendoza is a photographer in the Tulsa area who specializes in all aspects of music photography, favoring live performance photography over any other. I love being able to capture the raw emotion and energy found during live performances." (http://www.myspace.com/nancecam)

3. Next, a Youtube.com page comes up, the video showed still photographs of horses set to music.

4. Nancy Mendoza is the Label Manager for Universal Music Group Latino. This woman is living my dream life . (Nancy Mendoza Video)

What makes me most happy is not finding any websites of a Nancy Mendoza who is a criminal or psychopath. Maybe I just haven't found her yet. I'm proud to say that there are some amazingly successful Nancy Mendoza's out there in the world. Being among the search results of such accomplished women makes me optimistic that I can one day make something of myself.

My IMEEM profile is the fourth result as of (today March 25,2008), my Myspace profile is the ninth listing.

*Google is the most used search engine on the web.
*Googlability is the degree to which an individual index can be referenced.

PR Student of the year?

Last week I was told that I was chosen as the recipient of the Public Relations Student of the Year award at FIU.

I didn't even know such an award existed. But none the less I am very excited to be receiving it.

I don't think I've won any kind of award since I was given best historian for the French club in high school, or the art award in middle school. LOL
I love awards!

by Carla Wright

The following was written by my friend, Carla Wright.

Nancy Mendoza is unique. She is not your typical 24 year old.

For one thing, she is allergic to just about everything.

"I think a better list would be, 'What am I not allergic too?'" Nancy said. She always carries around an asthma inhaler, toothpaste, anti-bacterial hand sanitizer as well as various other pharmaceutical remedies; and that's only in her purse.

She also speaks three languages fluently, English, Spanish and French and that is just the outer shell of Nancy.

When you enter her house, the house welcomes you. Every room in the house is painted with a different accent color. The kitchen has warm blue accent walls, while her living room is a cool olive green. As you approach the back of the house, there is the dinning room, painted a dark shade of red with French paintings hanging. One in particular is of a Café in France at night.

"The whole house is set in a strict plan. My mom really follows Feng Shui, so the point of each room is to flow from one to another."

Nancy's room is no exception.

Her room alone can tell you stories about her life. She doesn't even have to open her mouth. She has a Moroccan themed bedroom with hot pink accent walls. The room is littered with trinkets of Nightmare before Christmas characters and pirate skulls. There are many Halloween themed Disney characters including a pirate Mickey mouse. She has framed pictures of Gwen Stefani, Jack's Mannequin, and Gavin Rossdale. Music symbols climb out from underneath her bed board and are scattered around her room. She has a wooden cat house by her window for one of her three cats and dog toys present obstacles for those entering the room. On her dresser are miniature Buddha in different positions. Behind the mini symbols of Buddha are statues of the Hindu gods Ganesh and Saraswati. "It's Harmony among chaos." Nancy says.

Being in Nancy's room is like being in a modern Ripley's believe it or not. It's not the eclectic trinkets or the way Nancy has every pair of shoe organized by color and heel and still in its original box that brings justice to this statement. It's the simplicity of a framed letter hanging on her bedroom wall by her mirror.

"Nancy and I were delighted with the news of your baby, and we send you our congratulations. We share your happiness on this exciting occasion and wish your family every health and success in the future. Ronald Reagan."

The envelope that it came in, once white, is now a light beige color in a custom made frame that displays both sides'. The return address reads: THE WHITE HOUSE, Washington and was sent with a 25 cent stamp; a small reminder of the past.

"Because I was born on July 4th, I was able to keep my family here in America instead of being sent back to Nicaragua where my family would have been killed."

The White house receives a list of babies born each day, but those who happen to be born on America's Independence day are paid special attention too. Nancy was no exception to this rule. Nancy's father, Ricardo Mendoza, wrote a letter to the president saying how much he loves America and how it was his dream to become a citizen of this country.

The Mendoza family was staying in America under Political asylum. Ricardo could not return to Nicaragua after the Sandinista's took control of the government. He was a Captain in the Nicaraguan army and any resistance to the Sandinista's was punishable by death. Ricardo insisted that his wife, Catherine Mendoza, leave with the children to Honduras to escape the war. Catherine was close friends with the French Ambassador at the time, and he insisted on helping her and the kids get out of Honduras while Ricardo stayed in Nicaragua and fought the Sandinista's.

"I refused to go unless my husband was coming with us." Catherine said.

Eventually, Catherine gave in and escaped with the children to France without Ricardo.

Three heart wrenching months passed and Catherine had not received any word as to if her husband was alive or dead.

"My gut told me he was still alive. I prayed for a signal, a sign, anything, to let me know that he was still alive."

Her prayer was answered. She received word from Ricardo that he was alive, well, and had finally escaped to Honduras. It wasn't until June of 1979 that he escaped by raft to El Salvador; where he was able to get in contact with his father, the ambassador to the Nicaraguan Army. His father was able to send him money so he and his family could start over again.

It was not long before he was reunited with his family in France; however, they did not stay in France for long. Ricardo left his family again to travel to Germany to pick up his father and bring him to Madrid, where his family stayed while Ricardo left for America to find a job.

In February of 1982, the Mendoza family was finally reunited in America. Ricardo had established himself with a company and was taken care of. They provided a house for the family in Coconut Grove, a house that provided shelter from the horrors of their homeland.

After Nancy was born, the Mendoza family started receiving letter from Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) that their time here in America was almost over. Ricardo kept filing for Political Asylum only to keep receiving these continuous letters.

" So I wrote President Reagan saying how much I loved it here in America and how much I wanted to stay."

The President responded.

President Reagan had remembered the Mendoza family because of Nancy, the name shared by his wife, Nancy Regan. He granted Political Asylum to the Mendoza Family himself; only for the request to go to the wrong family.

"The INS had granted the Political Asylum to another Ricardo Mendoza family living in the Coconut Grove area. This Ricardo was in the Nicaraguan Army as well and had filed for Political Asylum around the same time as we did."

So Ricardo did what any concerned father and provider for his family would do; he called the White House.

After Ricardo was announced to the president, he automatically knew who it was.

"He said, 'Don't tell me it's Nancy's father.'" Ricardo laughed.

Ricardo explained the situation to the president and that day President Reagan called over to the INS himself demanding that Political Asylum be granted to the Mendoza family and it is here, in America that the Mendoza's have stayed.

This was only possible because Nancy Mendoza was born on America's Independence Day.

While Nancy will never know the horrors of a civil war or the anxiety of being separated from her family and not knowing the whereabouts of a significant other, she does know the horror and anxiety of college life. Nancy is pursuing a Bachelors Degree at Florida International University in Public Relations. She works part time at the school as well as managing the promotional street team for LiveNation; the world's largest music promoters. Oh, and the three languages that the she speaks fluently, she also sings in as well. She's an aspiring musician hoping to catch her big break.

But as her dad says, "She's the only one in the family that can become president."

Another near DEATH experience

So if you've been keeping up with my blogs, you already know that ive come close to death a few times while in my car, and it's never been my fault.

Today, I drove to FIU south campus for my 9:30am french literature class. Suffered through 17th century plays and then got back into my car and prepared myself for the long drive ahead. Today is when I have to drive to Ft. Lauderdale for my internship at Live Nation.

So I do as usual, stop to buy something to eat so that I am done by the time I arrive at work, and then I called my mom to say "Hi" chatted a bit and then I hoped on the 826 (Palmetto) heading north. Just as I finnished my kids meal cheeseburger from BK, I decided to call my sister Karen, so that we can discuss the new Maroon 5 album I bought yesterday. Everything was working like clock work. I was making good time, catching up with my family and even staying within the posted speed limit ( yeah I drive the speed limit).

To give you a picture of where I was, I had just passed Hialeah Hospital and was approaching the gratigny (however you spell that) and I was in the far left lane ( I feel safe in that lave). In mid sentence , I went silent at the sight of the car directly infront of me and the car on the lane to to right of it fighting for lane space. As one car sped up to block it from entering it's lane, the other sped up to claim his space. I guess one car must have cliped the other and the next thing I know is the big black (or blue) SUV was about to hit the wall and possibly me in the porcess, I guess the SUVs driver didn't want to hit the wall so they jerked the steering wheel to avoid the wall. I shit you not, The car went airborn and flipped onto its roof. But it doesn't end there. Once on its roof, the car slid through all 4 lanes of the 826, completely to the right and stopped on the right shoulder.

I have witnesses a few accidents in my life as a driver , but never NEVER have I seen a car flip completely in the air and land so violently on its Roof. I am a bit traumatized. The fact that I was so far from where the car stoped prevented me from stoping to check on the driver, but as soon as I saw abunch of cars stop to run to the overturn cars aide, I kept on my way. I know myself, and had I stoped I would have been so emotional and so frazzled that I would have been in no shape to help the poor driver.

Even though both drivers are at fault for driving so aggressivly, I would never wish (not even my my worst enemy, and she knows who she is) for that to happen. Can you imagine the injuries (especially since almost noone wears their seatbelt) and then after the persons injuries, the traumatization of not having a car to get around and whats worse, probably the fear of getting into another car once the wounds have healed?! I know that I have had a few brushes with a vehicular death, and even I come out crying and nervous of the cars around me. If it werent for my sister staying calm with me on the phone ( I would have gone into full water works mode) why? because I am first and foremost a CANCER sign which makes me emotional from birth, and then because I am sad for the driver ( the old put yourself in their shoes emotion) and finally because I am so lucky that I was not hurt in the accident. ( I was so close, yet nowhere near the destructional path of that car). I mean the car was like normal following distance (learned it in drivers ed) and if I were a moronic miami driver I would have been on the SUVs ass riding him until he moved out of my way. But thank god that I giev myself time to get to where I have to go, and I was in no hurry to waeve in and out of traffic like "Frogger".

I had a mini break down when I arrived to my job, all it took was a "how are you?" from Natalie (my coworker) and I felt myself tear up and not able to speak. I composed myself and then told the story to my bosses and I felt releif when all my coworkers said the same thing "I am so glad you are ok" and " that could have been you, you are so lucky".

It's funny how a few little words can change someones mood. The feeling that I actually matter in this amazing company made me thankful for everything that I have. I guess things like this just bring you back to earth and let you know that you are not immortal, and enjoy what you have when you have it, cuz in a second you can go from jamming to the new Maroon 5 cd to sitting upside down on the side of the palmetto expressway. I am thankful for everything I have (in no particular order), my job, my school, my family, friends and other amazing expriences I have been blessed with this year. 2007 ROCKS!

I almost Died ( for real)
Current mood: thankful

I almost died tonight.

so I had to administer the exam for my teacher today beacuse my teacher is out of town for the week and decided to have me give his class the test.so i do that and the last person left at exactly 8 pm. I then walked back to the office to lock up the exams, and then as i step outside to walk to the car, it starts pouring. Thank god I always carry my mini umbrella in my purse, so I run to the car in the rain. I have moms car tonight, because my car is at the mechanic. My stupid airbag light turned on like 3 wks ago and never turned off so now my mechanic has to figure out why its on.

So I am driving on I 95 which is so hard to do tonight , because it is a monsoon outside and i cant see well in front of me and of course everyone is driving like assholes (whats new?!). So like a few miles before that first airport exit it stops pouring, but the street is still slick from having rained. So naturally everyone decides that it is safe to go 300 miles an hour now. I start speeding up to keep up with traffic and i decide tochange lanes to get from in front of some jerk, when some truck decides at the very moment that he too wants to get in the lane i am moving towards,( i am already 3/4 in the lane) but the guy decides to lay on his horn and force me out, he almost hits me so i try to go back to the other lane, thats when my cars tires start slipping and I lose control of the car. I hydroplane through 4 lanes of traffic, I don't know how I missed all the cars speeding towards me, but my angel did a damn good job of guiding me all the way to the shoulder onto the grass. thats when i hit the brakes and re-gained control.

I sit in the car for like 3.5 minutes and gather myself. I decide that I dont feel too safe just sittin there at 8:30 when its already pretty dark. So, I put my blinker and try to get back on the highway, thats when it officially hits me that I almost died, and all because that stupid truck wanted to push me out of the lane!

I tried to call my sister sophie but she never answered, I didn't want to call my mom cuz i know she would get hysterical and make me more upset, so i called my sisters friend steven, thinking he would probably know where to find her, but he never answeredeither.

well i finally made it home with mascara blackened eyes from crying, (it's true what dane cook says, it feels like everyone is watching you cry hysterically when you are in your car alone)
anyway I am alive ( thank god) and i think i need a damn bear nap ( means= I need to hibernate, like my sister calls it when i sleep for days).

dammit i have to wake up at the crack of dawn to take my sister karen to work and then baby to daycare, so that i can borrow her car to go to work. beacuse my car is broken. ugh i am so tired. i need to quit this job, cuz its gonna kill me for sure.
good night. hope you all enjoyed my near death experience. I have stoped crying for now.

Understanding Marketing

Too funny not to post.

Understanding Marketing: You see a fabulous girl/guy at a party. You approach them and say, "I'm fantastic in bed." That's Direct Marketing. You're at a party with a bunch of friends and see a fabulous girl/guy. You have one of your friends approach them, point at you and say, "She's/He's fantastic in bed." That's Advertising. You see a fabulous girl/guy at a party. You approach them to get their telephone number. The next day you call and say, "Hi, I'm fantastic in bed." That's Telemarketing. You're at a party and see a fabulous girl/guy. You get up, straighten your clothes, walk up and pour them a drink. You open the door, pick up their bag after it drops, offer them a ride, and then say, "By the way, I'm fantastic in bed." That's Public Relations. You're at a party and see a fabulous girl/guy. They walk up to you and say, "I hear you're fantastic in bed." That's Brand Recognition!

Hallmark just wants your money

Re-posting from Wednesday, February 01, 2006

It's only the first day of February and already I'm being constantly reminded of that this bullshit holiday we know as St. Valentine’s Day.

I believe that this holiday was created by the hallmark greeting card company to sell their cheesy cards, and sell candy, flowers and ugly ass teddy bears (that will get thrown out once you break up with your significant other).

Why do people that are in relationships like to shove it in peoples faces that don't have anyone? Is it necessary to remind people that the most dreaded holiday of the year is just a few days away?

And now my writing class was assigned a paper on the subject of "LOVE". seriously do we need to spoon feed this cheesiness to those who just want to stay in their P.J's ,curl up on the couch and watch a non romantic movie/show on TV?

I for one am totally against this corporate creation. And I not only blame every past boyfriend or person who has ruined this heinous holiday, but all the sappy valentine T.V. programs, romantic movies, commercials ,the candy hearts, boxed chocolate and endless isles of stuffed apes and annoying singing hamsters.

That’s just my opinion...

I almost blew up (car and all)

This happened on Tuesday, March 07, 2006. I am re-posting it from my old blog.

i almost blew up (car and all)
Current mood: distressed
Category: Automotive

so today I had a mass media exam (no big deal), then i fill up my gas tank at the local BP station. I grab some gub and jump on I95 heading home.
Now most of you know that I drive exactly the speed limit not much faster. I was driving behind a cheese wagon (AKA: school bus) and saw a giant piece of cardboard flying towards me, I don't swerve or anything just keep driving normally. Then out from under the school buss comes this think piece of wood that hits the bottom of my car. I think nothing of it and keep on driving.
After everyone honking at me and signaling me I got onto the shoulder (of I95). some hatian guy comes out of his car and tells me to take my shit and run away from the car, cuz fuel was leaking out. He was so hysterical that I grab my bag and get the hell away from my car.
The wood had pierced my gas tank and the gasoline was GUSHING out of the tank.
Crying I call my dad to see what he tells me to do. He's yelling at me like if i did this on purpose to piss him off. I call the police and like 2 minutes later the firerescue and Firetruck (with lots of hot firemen) were with me assesing the damamge and making sure i and my car were going to be ok.
so once FHP is on their way and my dad shows up, the firerescue leaves.
1 minute before the cop pulls onto the highway next to me some dumb ass rubber neckers get into a bad crash flippin a red car. They must have been so consumed in what I was doing on the side of the road that those fuckers hit eachother.
So FHP comes and of course goes to them!
Tow truck finally shows up one hour and a half after calling them, and takes me and my lil bug to my sisters bestfriends auto repair shop. ugh what a shitty day.
then the ying and yang of my life has to balance it's self and a radio station calls me that I won a contest.
at 10am tommorrow I have to drive to hollywood to see a live acoustic concert by the band "hurt".
Luckily my mom is amazing and will loan me her car so i can go with a friend.
ill take lots of pix.
I want to thank everyone who listened to me bitch and cry on the phone today while i was on the side of the road hysterical.
love you all.

What every driver in Miami should know:

What every driver in Miami should know:

1. Turn signals will give away your next move. A confident Miami driver avoids using them.

2. Under no circumstance should you maintain a safe distance
between you and the car in front of you, because the space will be filled in by someone else, putting you in an even more dangerous situation.

3. The faster you drive through a red light, the less chance you
have of getting hit.

4. WARNING! Never come to a complete stop at a stop sign. No expects it and it will result in your being rear-ended

5. Never get in the way of an older car that needs extensive
bodywork, especially with CANADA, NY or MICHIGAN plates. With no insurance, the other operator probably has nothing to lose.

6. Braking is to be done as hard and late as possible to ensure
that your ABS kicks in, giving a vigorous foot massage as the brake pedal violently pulsates. For those of you without ABS, it's a chance to strengthen your leg muscles.

7. Never pass on the left when you can pass on the right. It's a
good way to prepare other drivers entering the highway.

8. Speed limits are arbitrary figures; given only as a suggestion and are not enforceable during rush hour.

9. Just because you're in the left lane and have no room to speed up or move over doesn't mean that a driver flashing his high beams behind you can go faster in your spot.

10. Always brake and rubberneck when you see an accident or even someone changing a tire. This is seen as a sign of respect for the victim.

11. Learn to swerve abruptly without signaling. Florida is the
home of high-speed slalom-driving thanks to the Department of
Public Works, which puts potholes in key locations to test drivers'
reflexes and keep them alert.

12. It is tradition to honk your horn at cars in front of you that do not move three milliseconds after the light turns green.

13. To avoid injury in the event of a collision or rollover, it is
important for you to exit your vehicle through the windshield
right away. Wearing your seat-belt will only impede your hi-velocity escape from danger.

14. Remember that the goal of every Miami driver is to get
ahead of the pack by whatever means necessary.

15. In Miami, 'flipping the bird' is considered a polite salute. This
gesture should always be returned.
